THANKS TO YOU! This year we have so many things to be thankful for. Our two loveable companions - Obie and Ryan, of course. They are two rescues who rescue us daily with laughter, love of life, and unique perspectives. We also want to send a full-hearted THANKS to all of your have stood beside us in friendship and art. Life is good, colorful, and constantly changing, evolving and showing us beauty. in Publishing: My chocolate lab, Ryan, has made it to his "15 minutes of fame." Author, Philip Brenner has used him as a character in his children's book, "Parable of the Green Backpack." For those not familiar with Philip Brenner's books, they are a sheer delight!!!!!!! Phil, formerly a Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army, Military Police Corps and also a nuclear weapons security inspector from the Dept. of Energy - has shown us another world that lurked in his imagination. He has three books out that teach young readers great life lessons, and also new words. He combines dwarf dragons, the kids of today, and vocabulary in a way that not only entertains to the max, but also educates. Great books to read to younger children at bedtime and the 95+ tough vocabulary words expand the readership level to 8-13 year olds. Although, I must admit, I LOVED reading the books myself!!!! The author takes us on adventures with real-life issues that face us from bullies to friendship challenges. It even tackles drugs. It's always done in a way that is never preachy but excitedly draws the reader from one page to the next. (And I just read the opening chapter for a fourth book in the works that centers on issues like the environment in a way that kids can appreciate.). So everyone - purchase the first three books so the author has no excuse not to get moving on the fourth!
